November Membership Meeting

Fall Harvest of Wings, Seeds and Goodies

Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m.

Audubon Naturalist Society Headquarters at Woodend Sanctuary
Gate House
8940 Jones Mill Road
Chevy Chase, Maryland

Now that you’re getting ready to gives thanks again, let’s cut to the core. What could you be more grateful for on Thanksgiving than butterflies? Come celebrate your heart’s joy with the people who understand. This will be a time to recount your 1998 field and gardening experiences, share favorite slides and prints, exchange seeds and reconnect with other people who willingly broil in the hot sun to look at bugs. Feel free to bring along a food item to share. Paper plates, tableware, soft and drinks will be provided. Directions below.

NB: This meeting will be held at the Audubon Naturalist Society, the region’s premier natural history organization. WABC thanks this fine organization for hosting us at its elegant Chevy Chase headquarters abutting Rock Creek Park. In January, we will return to our regular meeting place at Longbranch Nature Center in Arlington, on the fourth Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Directions to Audubon Naturalist Society’s Woodend Sanctuary:

From Beltway, go south on Connecticut Ave for approximately one mile. Turn left on Manor Rd. and travel to the end. Turn right on Jones BRIDGE Rd. At end of Jones Bridge Road, turn left on Jones MILL Road. About one-fourth mile down the road, look for a brown sign announcing the nature center. The nature center comes up very fast after that on the left at #8940. Turn into the long driveway. The Gate House is the first building on the right. Park in front of that building.
