February 7 (Update)—Mark Garland, Senior Naturalist
I just got word that monarch 654TN, which I tagged after 4:00 p.m. on October 19, was recovered on October 26 at Oak Island, North Carolina, which is near the southern tip of the NC coast. Monarch Watch calculates the straight line distance at 252 miles. We've tagged more than 2000 in the last three autumns around Cape Charles, and this is the first recovery.

February 9 —Barbara Farron
On this unseasonably warm Friday, Barbara spotted an Anglewing streaking across a path at Mason Neck, Lorton, VA.
